Hair Transplant to Reduce a High Forehead?

While many people have a naturally high forehead, not everyone wants to have one. In some people the forehead can be so high that it looks cosmetically unappealing and causes unhappiness. And it is quite common to have a high forehead without experiencing any hair loss. However, a variety of hair transplant techniques can often improve this cosmetic imperfection. Having a high forehead is not only seen in men, but also in women and the desire to improve its appearance is often strong. Women can be especially bothered by this imperfection, as it makes them look less feminine. In recent years, the hair transplant industry has developed an answer to anyone looking to reduce their forehead.

Many with high foreheads feel that reducing the size of the forehead would create more balance to their face. Wanting to reduce the size of the forehead or lower the hair line is a common request, and people are surprised to learn that there actually is a solution. An appropriately sized forehead improves the symmetry of the face, and there are a few different techniques where a hair transplant doctor can correct a large or high forehead. However, it is important to note that the best candidates for this type of procedure are those who are not balding. Adding hair to the forehead on a person that will loose hair on top will not result in a good look.

There are two main hair transplant methods in reducing the size of a forehead and lowering the hair line. One method is to simply add more hair to the frontal hair line by transplanting hair directly below it, and that way lower it. This can be done with the FUE or the Strip method. The FUE involves individual extraction of each hair to be transplanted, and the Strip method means that a strip of hair bearing skin will be removed from the scalp where after hair grafts will be prepared for insertion. The FUE method is a more gentle procedure which can be done under local anesthesia, meaning the client is awake during the procedure.

Another method is to do a forehead reduction, which is done under general anesthesia. The doctor will remove a strip of skin where the hair line meets the forehead. The wound closure technique is advanced and the doctor must sew the wound in a way that will make hair grow through and in front of the scar. The scar will diminish in the months following the surgery and not be visible to others. Hair can also be transplanted into the scar if needed. The main advantage to this method is that results are immediate; there is no waiting for the hair to grow in as with traditional hair transplants. In a hair transplant surgery that involves the forehead and hairline it is critical to choose only the best of doctors, as even a small error in this area will be highly noticeable.
